Introducing the F1.2 Art Line Lens for mirrorless cameras, the world’s first wide-angle AF lens with an F1.2 maximum aperture designed for full-frame Sony E-mount and L-mount systems. This lens allows photographers to create artwork with exceptional resolution and large bokeh effects, making it perfect for portraits with shallow depth of field. It takes the Art line’s core concept—“pursuit of ultimate image quality”—to the next level. By utilizing both the optical design and in-camera correction functions, the lens corrects aberrations that are hard to fix in post-processing, boosting the resolution.

1. Newly Developed High-Performance Lens Series for Full-Frame Mirrorless Cameras

As mirrorless cameras gain popularity, the demand for lenses that work well with full-frame systems is growing. SIGMA has responded by developing a new series of full-frame mirrorless lenses that meet this demand. These lenses leverage the advantages of mirrorless cameras’ short flange focal length while maintaining the high standards of SIGMA’s Contemporary, Art, and Sports lineups. We are launching the first three models from this series to address the challenges photographers face.

2. SIGMA’s First F1.2 Maximum Aperture, Large-Diameter Prime Lens

The new Art line lens delivers a large-diameter F1.2 aperture with a 35mm focal length, optimized for the mirrorless camera era. The lens features three SLD glass elements and three aspherical lenses, including a double-sided aspherical lens, arranged in a construction of 17 elements in 12 groups. The optical design takes full advantage of the short flange focal length in mirrorless cameras. It also uses in-camera correction functions to address distortion and peripheral illumination. By correcting difficult aberrations, such as sagittal coma flare, the lens ensures excellent resolution, capturing over 50 million pixels.

3. High Operability for Both Still and Video Shooting

The lens’s Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) provides the required torque for fast and accurate autofocus. The focus-by-wire system in the manual focus ring delivers smooth, precise adjustments with optimized torque. The lens also includes an aperture ring with a de-click function, enabling seamless and silent adjustments, which proves especially useful for video shooting.

4. Durability for Confidence in Tough Environments

This lens features a dust- and splash-proof structure, ensuring it performs reliably in challenging conditions. SIGMA applied a water- and oil-repellent coating to the front lens surface, making it easier to clean. The lens also includes an AFL button, which users can customize for various functions, enhancing usability in different shooting scenarios.
